Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of the Highland Concrete website and any work you ask us to quote or do. When you browse the site, call us, send the contact form or accept an estimate, you're agreeing to them.
If a written estimate or contract we sign with you says something different from this page, the signed document controls for that job. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site, and call us so we can talk it through before any work is scheduled.
What we do
Highland Concrete is a concrete contractor in Highland, IN. We pour and repair driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, foundations, footings and other concrete work for homes and businesses in Highland and the cities around it. You'll find our full list of services on the home page, and more about our crew on the About page.
What the website says about our services is general information meant to help you plan. It isn't a promise about your particular job, because no two slabs, yards or soils are the same. The details of your job are set by your written estimate.
Estimates and pricing
We give free in-person estimates with no obligation, because we need to see the site before we can price it fairly. An estimate is based on what we can see that day, such as the size of the area, access for the truck, how much old concrete has to come out and the condition of the ground underneath.
Some things only show up once the job is open, like soft or wet soil under an old slab, buried debris or roots. If something like that changes the work, we'll stop, show you what we found and agree on any change in price with you before we go on. An estimate stays good for the period written on it, and after that we may need to update it because material costs change.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We'll give you a start date when you accept the estimate, but concrete depends on the weather, so heavy rain, freezing temperatures or extreme heat can push a pour back. We'd rather move the date than pour in conditions that leave you with a weak slab, and we'll tell you as soon as we know.
If you need to reschedule or cancel, call us as early as you can. Once we've ordered concrete, rented equipment or started digging out, you may owe for the work and materials already committed, as set out in your written estimate or contract.
Payment
Your written estimate or contract sets out the price, any deposit and when each payment is due. Payment is due on those terms, and we'll walk you through them before you sign so there are no surprises.
If a payment is late, we may pause remaining work until the account is brought current. Where state law allows it, an unpaid balance may also lead to a lien on the property, which is the usual way contractors in Indiana secure payment for work done.
Our workmanship, and what concrete does on its own
We're licensed and insured, and your satisfaction is guaranteed. If something about our workmanship isn't right, tell us and we'll come out, look at it with you and work to make it right.
Some things are the nature of concrete and aren't defects. Small hairline cracks can still appear even with good base work and control joints, the cuts we make so the slab cracks along a straight line instead of at random. Color and texture can vary from pour to pour, and patches won't perfectly match older concrete.
We can't be responsible for damage caused by things outside our work, such as driving on a slab before it has finished curing, the waiting period while it gains strength, deicing salts, heavy equipment the slab wasn't built for, ground movement, tree roots or changes to drainage made after we leave. Beyond what's written in your contract, we make no other promises about the work, express or implied, to the extent the law allows.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, Highland Concrete isn't liable for indirect or follow-on losses, such as lost use of your driveway, lost income or the cost of other contractors, that come from our work or from your use of this website. Our total liability for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
This website is provided as it is. We try to keep it accurate, but we don't promise it's free of errors or always available, and we aren't responsible for any outside sites it may link to.
If we disagree
If you have a problem with our work or your bill, call us first. Most issues get sorted out on site, with both of us looking at the same slab.
If we can't settle it that way, we both agree to try in good faith to resolve it, including through mediation if we both agree to it, before either of us goes to court.
Which law applies
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, where Highland Concrete is based. Any court case about them will be brought in the courts that serve Lake County, Indiana, unless the law requires otherwise.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the one that applies. Changes won't alter a contract you've already signed with us.
