Concrete cutting in Highland IN - straight, clean cuts with far less dust in the air

Need a trench in a floor, a wall opening or a section out of a driveway? We cut to the line you need.

Stamped concrete pool deck with large gray rectangular sections surrounds a screened swimming pool and a cushioned chair.

What does concrete cutting involve, and when do you need it?

Concrete cutting in Highland means sawing a straight, clean line through a floor, driveway, sidewalk or wall, so you get the trench or opening your project needs, with the cut panels either left in place or taken out.

Most of the cutting calls I get come from people partway into a bigger project, like a drain line going under a basement floor, a doorway through a foundation wall, a broken driveway section coming out or a slab trimmed back to make room for something new. The price moves with how many feet we cut, how thick the concrete is, whether there's steel in it and whether it's a floor or a wall. The schedule turns mostly on what has to be checked before the blade goes in and whether the job includes digging, and the estimate I write after seeing the job spells out what your price covers.

Why Highland homeowners call us for cutting

You'll get a straight answer about whether a cut makes sense for your project, and I'll tell you when a different plan would serve you better.

  • I come out myself

I look at every job before we price it, and I'm on site with our crew while the saw runs.

  • In business since 2017

We've run this business since 2017, and we're known for taking the tight basements and awkward walls other crews pass on.

  • Licensed and insured for your job

We're licensed and insured, which matters when a saw is running inside your house or right next to your foundation.

  • Your satisfaction, guaranteed

That's our promise on every job, and I'd rather talk you out of a cut than leave you unhappy with one.

  • You talk to the owner

I'm the one who answers most calls, so you can describe the cut to the person who'll come look at it.

How we handle concrete cutting jobs

The surface decides the saw, because a level slab and an upright wall need different equipment, and where the cut happens decides how we handle dust and fumes.

  • Flat sawing for floors and driveways

Flat sawing runs a walk-behind saw across a level slab, so it's how we open a trench in a garage or basement floor, take out a damaged section of driveway or sidewalk, or trim a slab back. When the cut is the first step of a bigger job, we can pour the new work too, through our concrete driveway building and concrete patio construction services.

  • Wall sawing for doorways and windows

Wall sawing mounts a diamond blade on a track fastened to the wall, which lets us cut a clean doorway or window opening where a floor saw can't work. It's slower, careful work, and it costs more per foot than cutting a floor.

  • Wet cutting, and safe saws indoors

We cut wet, because water on the blade substantially cuts the dust a concrete saw throws into the air around your house. Indoors we bring equipment that's safe in a closed space, since a gas-powered saw puts carbon monoxide into a basement's air and the safety advice for enclosed spaces points to hydraulic or air-powered saws, so ask any cutter you're comparing which kind they'll bring.

  • Cutting, with or without hauling

Sawing and removal are separate jobs, and some cutters make the cuts and leave the pieces where they sit. Our estimate says whether hauling them away is included, so you can compare bids line for line.

Questions about concrete cutting

How much does concrete cutting cost per foot in Highland?

Professional concrete saw cutting across the US usually costs about $3 to $10 per linear foot, and that covers the sawing itself. Thicker slabs and slabs with steel in them land higher on that range. Your price here comes from the estimate I write after walking the job with you.

Do I need a permit to cut concrete in Highland, IN?

The city's building office decides that, so we check with them before we set a date for your job. If it does need a permit, we take care of the paperwork and line up the inspections, because the rules differ from one city to the next.

How do I cut a round hole in concrete for a pipe or drain?

Round holes for pipes, drains and conduit are normally made by core drilling, a hollow diamond bit that pulls out a clean plug, rather than with a saw. It's priced apart from straight cuts, so mention any holes when I come out and they'll be on your estimate.

How do I find out what's inside my slab before it's cut?

If a cut could cross post-tension cables or structural steel, drawings and a GPR scan, a radar that reads inside the slab, may be needed before work starts. A scan shows that something is there and how deep, but not whether a conduit carries wiring, water or gas, so ask any cutter how they'll check a line before cutting near it.

Who provides water and power for concrete cutting at my house?

Under one industry sawing guideline, the homeowner or someone acting for them supplies the water and power the cutting crew uses. The same guideline has the owner and contractor agree before work starts on how the slurry, the gray water the blade leaves behind, gets collected and disposed of, and both are worth settling when you book the job.

Can you cut out just the cracked part of my driveway instead of replacing it?

Often, yes, when the rest of the slab is sound and the trouble is one section where the ground underneath settled. We saw clean edges around it, take it out and pour a new piece on a dug-out, packed base, though the new concrete won't match the old color exactly. If the whole driveway is sinking, a full replacement is the better use of your money, and I'll tell you that on the walk-through.

Concrete cutting in Highland and the cities nearby

When a cutting job also means digging, like trenching under a floor for a drain or digging out beside a removed driveway section, Indiana's call-before-you-dig law requires everyone who digs to contact Indiana 811 at least two full working days before starting. Utilities then mark their underground lines within two full working days, not counting weekends and legal holidays, and the locate ticket is good for 20 calendar days, so the start date needs that wait built in and the digging has to fall inside the window.

We're based in Highland and work in the cities around it on both sides of the Indiana and Illinois line, and the calls look much the same in Munster and Griffith: basements getting a new drain or window opening, garage floors opened for a line and driveway sections coming out. The tight basements are where the indoor setup matters most.
