About our concrete company in Highland

Highland Concrete is a concrete contractor in Highland, IN that starts every slab with the ground under it, the water around it and how you'll use it.

Why I build concrete from the ground up

I came to concrete in my thirties, after years of fixing machines in a plant, and I learned the trade under an old-school finisher before starting Highland Concrete in 2017. What pulled me in is that every slab is a small puzzle. The ground, the water, the weather and the way you'll use the space all have a say in how it holds up.

We're known for taking the jobs other crews pass on, like the side yard where water sits, the tight basement or the wall nobody wants to touch. Most of our calls come from homeowners, along with a fair number of small business and property owners. You'll find everything we pour, from driveways to footings, on our home page.

I care most about what you can't see on day one, which is the packed base the slab sits on, the drainage and the timing of the pour, because those decide how concrete holds up. The base is usually the first thing people want to trim from the budget, and I'd take that money from a fancier finish before I'd skimp underneath. If a plan won't work, I'll tell you why instead of building something that lets you down a few winters from now.

What you get from our concrete crew

We're licensed and insured, and we treat your house like a place we'll drive past for years. That means plain answers, no pushed upgrades and the same people from first look to cleanup.

  • One person, estimate to pour

The person who walks your job with you is on site when it's poured, so what we talked about in your driveway is what actually gets built.

  • A plan for awkward spots

Wet corners, tight access and odd shapes don't scare us off. We work out how to handle them before anyone digs, so there are fewer surprises once the ground is open.

  • An estimate you can compare

Your written estimate says plainly what's included, like removing the old slab, base prep and the finish, so you can line it up against other bids side by side.

How we run a concrete job

Every job starts with a walk-around and ends with a clean site. In between, the plan is set before anyone digs, and I'm there for each step that matters.

  1. Walk the job

I come out myself for a free estimate, look at the ground and where the water runs, and ask how you'll use the space.

  2. Plan and price

We put the plan and price in writing. If a permit's needed, we handle the paperwork and inspections with the city's building office before we set a date.

  3. Prep and pour

I'm on site with our crew to pack the base, time the pour around the heat and cut control joints, the grooves that give cracks a place to go.

  4. Finish and clean-up

We clean up and tell you straight what to expect, from small hairline cracks to how long to stay off it while it cures and first-winter care.
